PacDiv consists of brothers Like and Mibbs, along with BeYoung. They have been together since 2001. The group from just north of Los Angeles have emulated their idols, such as Native Tongues, Hieroglyphics and even Thug Life in slow-crafted, conceptual music. In mid 2006, Pacific Division’s BlendTape premiered, as a thematic mixtape combining mid-‘90s classic-inspired covers with newer works with producer Swiff-D (The Diplomats, Snoop Dogg, Nas). PacDiv has released two official mixtapes titled: “Church League Champions” and “Don’t Mention It.” After being signed to Universal Records, their debut album: “Grown Kid Syndrome” will release in Late Q4 2010.
Varsity Squad is a Pittsburgh-based supergroup consisting of emcees Beedie & Jon Quest, and producer Shade Cobain. The group was officially announced at the Method Man & Redman show in Pittsburgh in August 2010 (footage here), and ever since they have been booked for shows non-stop across the midwest & east-coast. Building off the hype of each of their solo work, the 3 members are scheduled to release their debut album by early 2011. The name Varsity Squad signifies they are the “elite” of Pittsburgh hip-hop, a scene booming with talent on the brink of eruption to the mainstream.
Also Performing: Nick Pratt, Hands Down, & LOS + CLG.
